"Get Out There!" is fantastic for the local people of Basildon District to participate in affordable and exciting sporting activities. The message of being active and healthy is very important and one that I am keen to support in line with the "Get Out There!" project".

"The Department for Culture, Media and Sport welcomes any initiative which will get more people active.

Sport plays a major role in Government policy. It contributes to building stronger, safer communities, strengthening the economy, developing the skills of local people, meeting the needs of children and improving everyone's health.

We're aiming high. Our target is to get 2 million people more active by 2012 - 1 million of these through sport. That's an increase in participation that's never been surpassed anywhere in the world.

We wish Basildon District Council well with the 'Get Out There' project which we are sure will play a big part in contributing to a major increase in getting local people active as they take part in the fun activities on offer."
