Castaway Star brings Bushcraft Skills to Billericay


One of the stars of BBC programme, Castaway, will be heading to Billericay to run a series of Woodland Challenge sessions as part of Basildon Councils 'Get Out There' initiative.


Ken Rose, a contender in the BBC show and ex Royal Marine will be running the Woodland Challenge - Introduction to Bushcraft course at the Skirmish Billericay site as part of 'Get Out There', Basildon Council's campaign to encourage residents to take up one of the many activities going on around the district.


Ken will be teaching a range of survival and bushcraft skills across the 2 hour courses including emergency shelters, map reading, measuring distances, building fires and much more.


Councillor Kevin Blake, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Arts, said " 'Get Out There' continues to go from strength to strength and we have seen some fantastic opportunities over the past few months. I hope that residents will take up the challenge and come and visit Ken and learn some of the skills he has kindly agreed to teach."


The £5 sessions will run from 1pm-3pm every 2nd and 3rd Sunday of the Month from the 8th of November at Skirmish Billericay, Outwood Farm Road, Billericay.
