Healthy Eating Challenge for Basildon Pupils
Basildon Council have joined forces with a local primary school to reward healthy eating.
The Councils Get Out There project has launched a new healthy Lunch Box Challenge with St Anne Line Junior School in Basildon the first to take it up.
Kevin Blake, Cabinet Member for Arts and Leisure said The Lunch Box Challenge is a great opportunity for schools to promote healthy eating. I hope other schools in the district follow the lead of St Anne Line Junior School and join the challenge.
The challenge is for pupils to take up a healthy option and swap something in their lunch box for a healthier item such as a piece of fruit each day.
Mr. Larrett, Head teacher of the school said Healthy lifestyle is a high priority at St Anne Line Junior School we encourage children to eat well and be active. This Scheme will further develop childrens involvement in healthy activities and the support of Basildon Council has given it real drive and purpose.
In return for taking up the challenge and completing set goals, pupils at the school will receive subsidised vouchers which can then by used at the Councils leisure facilities.
