Street football leagues for youths

Street football leagues for youths

Basildon Council and Positive Futures have once again joined forces this time to deliver a Street Football League. The street football league is a community project supported by the Community Safety Partnership is aimed at young people from across the district. The 5 a-side league runs over 5 weeks and gives young people the chance to compete in a friendly environment against other young people from different areas. The project uses sport to encourage young people to breakdown community barriers, combat ASB, improve health & fitness and encourage young people to join local clubs.

Currently there are a number of sport based outreach projects taking place across the district however after consultation with young people it has been noted there is a lack of formal competition at a recreational level for young people that are not involved in a local clubs. This project will help vulnerable young people make the transition from grass roots participation to club based sport where they will learn a range of life skills including teamwork, commitment and benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
