Bodycare returns for over 55's
Basildon Council are to run a Bodycare programme to encourage over 55's to improve their lifestyles and get active.
Following the success of the Active Plus event earlier in the year and the following Bodycare courses, the Council have announced the launch of a new five week course giving over 55's the chance to take up an activity, and improve their health and lifestyle.
Cllr Kevin Blake, Cabinet Member for Leisure and the Arts said "The Active Plus event was a huge success with over 200 people attending on the day. We followed that up with a BodyCare course which saw a large number of over 55's coming along on a regular basis, so we are very pleased to be now putting on this new course and I would encourage anyone over the age of 55 to come along and give it a go."
The five week course starting on the 21st June takes place every Thursday at Pitsea Leisure Centre from 10.30am to 11.30am. The course is free to attend for residents and features activities including exercising to music, fitness walking, circuit training, resistance work-outs and yoga / pilates.
Each weekly session will have a theme and consist of theory and practical information to help you exercise your body and mind. The sessions are specifically designed to suit both men and women and promise to be great fun and a good opportunity to meet others in your local community.
Week 1: An introduction to active living
Week 2: Dispelling the exercise and ageing myths
Week 3: The benefits of resistance training
Week 4: Nutrition and diet basics
Week 5: Good posture and body alignment
