Free exercise for over 55's

Following the success of Bodycare, Basildon Council are set to expand the programme to enable more residents to get active.

The scheme aimed at people over the age of 55 ran at Pitsea Leisure Centre earlier this year and gave residents the chance to take up an activity, and improve their health and lifestyle.

Free to attend for residents who are 55 and over and featuring activities including exercising to music, fitness walking, circuit training, resistance work-outs, yoga and pilates the sessions proved a big hit.

Now following this success Basildon Council will be expanding the programme to give more residents the opportunity to get involved.

As of the 29th April a session will be taking place at St Martins Pastoral Hall every Thursday from 10.30am - 11.30am. This will run in the same format as the previous programme and will be free of charge for residents.

In addition a special seated exercise Bodycare programme will be running at Afflets Court, Moat Field every Monday starting Monday 19th April. This exercise session is aimed at the less able and will feature a range of toning and stretching exercises.
