'Rehab Through Exercise' programme to launch

Residents who have problems with their health are being invited to join a new programme aimed at improving health and well-being through exercise.

The 'Rehab through Exercise' programme running at Eversley Leisure Centre, Gloucester Park Swimming Pool and Markhams Chase Leisure centre will feature a range of activities specifically for those who have issues with their health.

The programme is designed to help and support people who have joint and mobility limitations, arthritis, diabetes, cardiac problems and stable angina to gain the benefits and well-being of being gently active and more mobile.

Councillor Kevin Blake, Cabinet Member for Arts and Leisure said: "This new programme will give residents who struggle with their health the opportunity to improve their fitness and lifestyle. It is also a fantastic way to meet others in a fun and supportive environment."

The courses are run by a specially trained Cardiac Rehab trainer who is supported by the British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Courses include 'Learn to use the Gym' held at Gloucester Park Swimming Pool on Thursdays between 3pm - 4pm and 'Circuit Class' held at Markhams Chase Leisure Centre on Mondays between 2pm-3pm. There will also be a 'Gentle Keep Fit' session which will be running at the Eversley Centre from January.
