Youngsters welcome at Council Gym

BASILDON Councils Gym Express scheme which has been successfully running at the Eversley Centre in Pitsea is now being expanded to allow younger residents to take advantage of the Centre.

The 11- 15's Gym Express open to children between those ages is a gym membership which will allow younger residents to attend the centre for a reduced rate.

There are 12 instructor led sessions each week including gym, spinning and fighting fit circuits and for just £4.95 per week members will be able to select and book three of these session to participate in during the same week.

Councillor Kevin Blake, Cabinet Member for Arts and Leisure said "The Gym Express has allowed for residents to come to Eversley and get fit without breaking the bank, and I am very pleased that we can now expand this for younger residents to come along. It would be great to see whole families coming to the centre and benefitting from the scheme".

Manager of Leisure Services Paul Brace added "The aim of the 11-15 Gym Express is to encourage younger residents to think about what they would like to do or achieve regarding their health and fitness, we hope they enjoy the facilities and we will be consulting members on progressing the project".

Instructors will be on hand to provide leadership and advice as a 'personal trainer' but it will be left to the members to decide what sessions they take and whether they want to build a personal training programme or take a free style approach.

Anyone interested in joining the 11-15 Gym Express or would like any further information should contact the Eversley Leisure Centre on 01268 583076.
