Young people get “fighting fit”

Young people can get fit, have fun, and learn a new discipline as part of new boxing training sessions to be held in Laindon.

The new project from Positive Futures and Basildon Council's Community Development Team is being run by experienced trainers from the Billericay Amateur Boxing Club. Sessions will be held at King Edward Hall, King Edward Road, every Tuesday for five weeks from 20 July to 17 August.

The classes are open for boys and girls aged 10 to 14 years from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, while sessions for 15 to 19 year olds are being held from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

Cabinet Member for Community, Cllr Andrew Baggott, said: "Encouraging young people to take part in activities that helps keep them fit while allowing them to learn new skills and self- discipline can help build self-esteem while allowing them to channel their energy in a positive manner."
