Weight Programme success at Eversley
| A Basildon man has been given a new lease of life thanks to the Eversley Centres and the South West Essex PCT weight management programme. Lorry Driver Steve Powell from Pitsea was referred to the Basildon Council run leisure centre last year by his GP suffering from weight related health problems. Now thanks to the centres programme he has not only lost the necessary weight but has become a regular member of the gym. Councillor Kevin Blake, Cabinet Member for Leisure and the Arts said "Steve is a great example of what can be achieved. The weight management programme at Eversley has seen some great successes and helped a number of people improve their lifestyles and get fitter". The Centre also runs the low cost gym 'Gym Express' programme which provides an affordable way to keep healthy and through this Steve has been able to continue coming to the Centre and can now be seen down their most days. Steve said "Its fantastic to have this facility on my doorstep. I feel like a new man since coming here and have met lots of new people who are very supportive".
