Health bus parks up at Craylands
| A COMMUNITY is being encouraged to visit a new weekly mobile clinic to get health checks and advice. Vitality, the local health and well-being service run by NHS South West Essex Community Services, is working in partnership with Basildon Council to bring its new mobile health improvement unit or "health bus" to Basildon this month. From Tuesday 13 April, the Craylands Estate will be the permanent base for the multi-purpose clinic every Tuesday, open for visits weekly between 10am and 1pm. Basildon residents are encouraged to come down to the mobile clinic in Exeter Close on the Craylands Estate with any health improvement questions related to stopping smoking, losing weight, eating better or to book a health check. 'Vitality on the Move' tours the area promoting healthy living and providing lifestyle programmes that are free for the public. Rab Fallon, Head of Housing Services at Basildon Council, said: "Basildon Council and NHS South West Essex are committed to improving the health and well being of the residents of Craylands. "Both agencies have joined together and have arranged for the new mobile health improvement unit to come to Craylands on a permanent basis. "We encourage Craylands residents to come along next Tuesday" Mary Knower, Vitality service leader added: "Ensuring ease of access and flexibility of our services is key to meeting the needs of the public. "This specialist unit will provide a unique opportunity to take the programmes offered by Vitality into the heart of our communities." Vitality supports individuals to make lifestyle changes that reduce the risk of developing life threatening conditions such as heart disease and cancer.
