The Basildon District Youth Council (BDYC) act as the voice of young people in Basildon and work to tackle the issues that matter to them most.
The BDYC meet fortnightly to discuss and tackle issues that affect young people living in the borough. Members are between the ages of 11 - 19 years and are supported by Basildon Borough Council and Essex County Council.
The youth council identified three priorities following a conference with young people, these were: safety, anti-bullying and publicity. To date they have delivered a graffiti clean up project, given radio interviews, carried out an anti-bullying survey, attended team building training sessions and designed their own promotional material.

The Young Essex Assembly is the elected youth council for Essex.
75 young people from around Essex who are aged between 11 and 19 have been elected to represent the voice of all young people in the county and campaign to make a positive difference to their lives. As a member of the YEA you will be listened to by the County Council, your local council and by other groups working with or for young people.
The 75 members of the Young Essex Assembly meet 4 times a year at what are called Sittings. Each member is part of a smaller (sub) group which will meet at least once a month. The Sittings are held in Chelmsford but subgroup meetings are held around the county.
